I only very recently got into Twitter. I’d had Twitter for a while, but only in the past few days have I really decided to dive in and enjoy.
I’m terrible at keeping up with browser-based applications. I hate web-based mail, and web-based RSS readers (though I readily admit that also recently I’ve become totally addicted to Google Reader…) I fail at things like MySpace and Facebook because I simply forget to go. My trick with Google Reader is basically to leave the tab always open. But I don’t want to keep open an additional 902842 tabs just for all the social networks.
So the first thing I did upon joining the Twitter world was go in search of an application that would keep me from having to go to the actual website (cause I hate it).
I’m certain there’s various Twitter apps, but here’s what I use:
PC:
- Twhirl - It’s light, it’s sleek, it sits right on my desktop and keeps me updated on everyones tweets. It handles multiple accounts, and the interface can be changed to suit your preferred color scheme. It lets me do everything I need to do, simply and effectively.
iPhone/iPod touch:
- Twitterific - I had been using Twitterific loyally since I first got my iPod Touch. I admit, the cute bird icon caught my eye. I’ve got no complaints about this application. I’m sure others do because people find things to complain about all the time, but this worked perfectly fine for me. One downside that seemed to bother people: ads. The free version comes with ads.
- Twittelator - I installed this one last night and I’m still playing around with it. I heard good things about it and it’s got some features that Twitterific doesn’t have (that I noticed), like the ability to read general public tweets. I like that it breaks things up into categories, too.
If anyone’s got better Twitter apps to recommend - or any social networking apps! - let me know. I’m always on the lookout for bigger and better.

Pues yo uso TwitterFox y me va bastante bien, se acopla genial a Firefox y está instalado dentro del navegador así que puedo estar trabajando y revisar o enviar twitts en un momento y de manera muy sencilla.
